1001 Albums Summary

Respect as the first track kicks it off at a high. Then it's almost just downwards after that. Found myself bobbing along all through it but not really connect to it in the sense I'm looking for. A bit lacking in diversity between the tracks. And, for me, Sam Cooks' original version of "A change is gonna come" can not be topped as a 10.

The progression seem to go from cheerful and funky to end in a kind of eerie monoton track which was not a great finale in my opinion. Some parts, aspecially a few outros, feels a bit protracted. I do however love the funky feeling in many of the tracks that builds on rhythm guitar and great bass lines. That along with the feeling that the beat in many songs circled round a different key percussion. That soundscape with Byrnes awesome, kind of shaky and fragile, voice in the high notes makes for a great contrast.
