1001 Albums Summary

Blues and slow ballad album - blues is probably my least favourite music genre. Pros - Great singer, live instrument recording, good piano licks, some good backing harmonies. Cons - Harmonically and rhythmically simple and predictable, melody moves very similarly in each song, some poor mixing. Only songs I somewhat enjoyed were: You make me feel like a natural woman (nice melody) Good to me as I am to you (some interesting harmony) Groovin' (great drum beat) Ain't no way (some nice chord movements) 2/10 - Probably won't be many albums I enjoy this little

I quite like this album. It's mostly indie rock, a couple of slow rock songs. The chords, instrumentation and rhythms are simple for the most part but a lot of the songs have very weird sound design which makes up for that. Pros - I like the genre, pleasant vocal tone, great mixing, interesting weird sound design, some nice drums Cons - Simple hamonies and rhythms for the most part, nothing especially struck me Songs I liked: Jesus, Etc. (Really nice soundscape, nice easy listen) Pot Kettle Black (Same reason as previous) Poor places (So many interesting choices with effects, phrasing, chords choices, nicest vocal performance, terrifying ending - really great song) 3/5 - Lots of interesting stuff going on and well made, only 1 song really hit me however

Indie rock album - All the songs are well made but very typical for the genre and fairly uninspired. There are a lot of interesting modulations and tempo / mood changes but I'm not a fan of a lot of them. Pros: I like the genre, the drums are tight, the mixing and effects are really great, interesting tempo changes and modulations Cons: I'm not a fan of a lot of the changes, songs typical of the genre, very samey, all predictable Songs I liked: Take Me Out (really well known song - I love the beginning but not so much the rest) Auf Achse (I like the instrumentation and arrangement a lot) Come on Home (Nice chords, cool instrumentation, pretty ending) 2/5 - Well made, nothing unpredictable or stand out
