This was an enjoyable first listen that deserves going back to fully appreciate the craft. Highlights are Smile please, you haven't done nothin', and they won't go when I go.
I need to remember that this is a lesson in music history more than anything else. It's interesting to hear this album in retrospective to see how many sounds it has inspired. Since I've been loving you is really interesting but prior songs have been sonically basic. Gallows Pole also stands out and immigrant song is a pop culture classic.
Clearly historically important and a huge inspiration to some notable modern rock sounds. I don't know if I go back to this album though.
A really well put together album especially from the instrument side. The vocals are inoffensive and just drag the songs honestly. Pushes the connection between jazz and rock to the forefront. The guitar intro for money for nothing is incredible. Some of the songs dragggggggg though. Why does the intro to ride across the river sound like it should be in mario 64.
