1001 Albums Summary

Very raw, some good riffs, very simple lyrics, cool production. Singing is better than I imagined too. I like the simplicity and I liked some of the songs. Enjoyed it!

Incredible ! Dramatic, alien, beautiful, with a powerful flowing energy. Some great songs too. 9/10

Really blistering album, at the start certainly - Janis Joplin's vocals are crazy, so gravelly and powerful, and the album has a heady, unhinged energy. A great mix of soul and rock that I was completely unaware of! The album settles into more typical blues rock as it goes on, less inspiring and less justified in being so overblown. Still, the start of this album is incredible. I didn't know Piece of My Heart was from this!

Well put together early electro rock, but the songs are mostly pretty drab. Singing is a bit whiny too. Otherwise not bad, and I'm sure influential at the time
