A grunge classic, some absolute bangers on here, however it does go a bit dad rock at times. Reminds me of emo teenage years and my attempt at learning alternative music history as fast as possible<3 Favorites: Even Flow, Alive, Jeremy Rating: 6.8/10
When I put this on I really didn’t think I was in the mood for it, really just needed a distraction, but this is just incredibly good. Very fun, technically talented parts of this that make me stop and just appreciate a 2 minute guitar part and the like, really good stuff. Not every song was a memorable standout, but the experience overall was wonderful. Also LOVE Janis Joplin, that needed to be said. Favorites: Piece of My Heart and Oh, Sweet Mary Rating: 7.9/10
Remembered this as better, I think my teenage twilight obsessed emo brain picked up something in this that is not really present to me listening back to it. Their hits still hold up, maybe because I remember them the best and they therefore act as the most powerful vessels for nostalgia. Anyway, I will always enjoy Muse, but this album didn’t do any more than that. Favorites: Supermassive Black Hole, City of Delusion, Knights of Cydonia Rating: 6.4/10
This is too long and unedited and just not good enough for me to actually want to sit through a 1 hour 30 min album. If you really focus on just the guitars it’s kinda good once in a while, and a few times there’s a sort of old-movie-soundtrack-playing-in-the-background-at-my-grandparents’-house charm to it, but ultimately I won’t be returning to this one. Favorites: I Can’t Make Your Way (but like calling it a favorite is perhaps a bit much) Rating: 4/10
