Thriller by Michael Jackson
Jul 02 2026

I absolutely love this album, it’s just full of hits. Thriller is the kind of record that works for any occasion and any season. 'Thriller' for Halloween; 'P.Y.T.' and 'Billie Jean' for spring/summer, or as get-up-and-go songs in the morning when my brain is still asleep. I remember 'The Girl Is Mine' from road trips with my parents (it was perfect for napping to). I must have listened to this album dozens of times during my first year of journalism studies because one of my professors was completely obsessed with Michael Jackson. Fun fact: Michael Jackson visited Poland in 1997 (a year after playing a massive concert in Warsaw, which was basically the event of the century) and wanted to buy the huge, historic Cistercian Abbey in Lubiąż to serve as his European headquarters and museum. Unfortunately, the deal fell through, apparently, the renovation costs were just too high... My professor was incredibly disappointed by this (and to be honest, so was I when I found out).

Very chill album, reminds me of the Tumblr era (rip). I've never listened to all the songs, so it created a nice Friday soundtrack today. I have a feeling that I have to go back to it in Fall. No fun facts today I'm afraid :c

To Pimp A Butterfly by Kendrick Lamar
Jul 07 2026

One of my favorite albums ever, maybe because the bass god himself, Thundercat, plays a huge role in it!! Besides him, you can hear Snoop Dogg, George Clinton, and Kamasi Washington on the record, and from what I remember, Flying Lotus also helped out with the whole thing, just an absolute powerhouse of a lineup (I highly recommend checking these musicians out if you don't know them, except for Snoop Dogg, obviously... everyone knows Snoop Dogg). Fun fact: Apparently, David Bowie was so fascinated by the album that he listened to it on repeat while preparing for his final record, Blackstar, and drew heavy inspiration from it. Another fun fact: Prince was supposed to be a guest on one of the tracks. Kendrick actually met up with him in the studio, but they got so caught up talking about Black history that they ran out of studio time and never got around to recording anything together.

Hunky Dory by David Bowie
Jul 08 2026

An iconic album, the precursor to Bowie's alter ego era, Ziggy Stardust. A pure classic. The first song will always remind me of handsome Shrek riding a horse (donkey). 'Life on Mars?' is iconic, too. 10/10

Blackstar by David Bowie

This album makes me uneasy, I respect that
