Bookends

We would listen to a small collection of cassettes on family trips back in the day and Simon and Garfunkel was played fairly regularly. This album was not on the playlist. Definitely includes some S&G essentials and a few I’ve never heard before. I can’t hear America without thinking about the movie Almost Famous. I wasn’t prepared for the ominous synth introduction on Save The Life of My Child. Seems out of place for their particular style and the era it was created. I wasn’t aware that Hazy Shade of Winter was a S&G original. Overall, I’m fully on board with 1/4 of the album and the rest just works out to nice background music for me. Nothing I dislike and I appreciate the rest as filler.
