1001 Albums Summary

I understand why it's a classic, but personally i am not a big fan of cool jazz. It's a pleasant background music. I like the polymeter/polyrhythm parts. Great production for it's time. One time listen.

I know this is a good album. But if i am reviewing based on subjective feelings it was an ok listen. I don´t know.. it feels like i should really like radiohead, it is experimental, emotive music.. but for some reason i´ve always had this feeling that there is something lacking.

Yeah, this was not for me. I never liked Meat Loaf and this album did not turned me into fan. He is a great singer but the musical he makes is toothless. It's a music for white dads, music that woul play at the small time carnival. Inoffensive rock. Some other review mentioned something to the extend that this sounds like if Elton John bought a motorcycle.. that is spot on.

Country music is not for me.

This was a surprise... Didn't think i am gonna like an old school hip hop this much. Good album!

I used to listen to Zappa when i was younger. I thought he was cool, the older i get the more I find his persona, with his superiority complex and mean spiritedness obnoxious, but i can't deny that a lot of his music still holds up. That being said this album is not for me. There are some very nice compositions but the second it goes into improvisation i am loosing all my interest and i start thinking of something else. When it comes to improvisation, Zappa always seemed like a one trick pony to me. Masturbatory jumping around the scale is not for me. I don't mind that he's not melodic and i like how he uses rhythm, but these solos go nowhere.. for ever.... will not listen again.

Sounds are little bit outdated, but the songs are overall solid. I enjoyed it.
