Appetite For Destruction by Guns N' Roses
Aug 09 2026

Really fun album. Although it doesn't hit me *that* hard, there are some really great hooks on the singles. Slash is fun to listen to despite the whole "Seinfeld is unfunny" trope. If I heard this in the midst of the glam/sleaze metal craze of the 80s, it would certainly stand out. I think lots of folks see the 80s as a low-point for heavy guitar music, but as far as 80s goes, give me hardcore/alternative/college rock any day (Black Flag, R.E.M., Jane's Addiction, etc.) • 7/10

"Dreams" is an all-timer. As someone who is the most casual Fleetwood Mac fan of all-time, the smooth, dreamy and breezy sound of that song is what I like most about the band. Other than that... I can appreciate the lore behind the album: the anger, the jealousy, the betrayal. The songs are pleasant, but even with the lore and the talent, the music does almost nothing for me.

Moving Pictures by Rush

Already familiar with the big hits ("Tom Sawyer," "YYZ," "Limelight,") listening to the full-length of this album was a treat. Never dull, always interesting and thoughtful. What more can I say?
