A Love Supreme by John Coltrane
Aug 17 2026

Sultry, sexy, chaotic. Has a calculated calm chaos. Favourite track was Psalm - doom jazzy, sounds like a storm rolling over. 4/5 not because it's not perfect it's just not my favourite personally

Parallel Lines by Blondie
Aug 18 2026

Trying to this as if it’s the 70s and new wave is an emerging and present movement. This is all about Debbie Harry. It feels as though the instruments and melodies are all there to do as they’re told by their front woman’s mood and storytelling. I particularly love the contrast as the album goes from the urgency and choppyness of will anything happen to the more winding and lyrical sunday girl and heart of glass. Also, up there with the best first 30 seconds of an album ever - no time to waste Blondie are getting straight into it.

Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys
Aug 19 2026

Obviously this album contains 2 of what are widely regarded as some of the best songs ever (and for god only knows, i’d agree). However, the rest of the album feels like padding. with 2026 ears nothing much else stands out. I did appreciate I just wasnt made for these times. Its impressive that a song from 60 years ago is still deeply relatable - and as someone who probably has very little in common with men from 60s California.

The United States Of America by The United States Of America
Sep 04 2026

i’ve never heard of this, but its immediately clear i’ve heard lots of things influenced by this. i’m a fan of this kind of late 60s california, psychedelic rock so this was always going to be a winner. its definitely more playful than contemporaries like jefferson airplane but with fewer standout tracks.

On The Beach by Neil Young
Sep 07 2026

i usually have more will power to push through when an album is not my genre. couldnt do this one

Seventeen Seconds by The Cure
Sep 08 2026

i’ve never been a huge fan of the cure. robert smiths voice doesn’t really do it for me. however their instrumentals are always a winner, captivating and atmospheric. this album has a great balance between lyric heavy tunes and instrumental yumminess. i like the transitions between songs, particularly the final sound > a forest

Actually by Pet Shop Boys
Sep 11 2026

some parts of this sound so modern and other parts so dated. i especially liked the intro to one more chance. generally quite one note and gets a little synth exhausting with a few highlights (rent, its a sin). would give 2.5/5 if possible
