Ten by Pearl Jam

- one of the greatest intros I've heard and closings - perfectly encapsulates the album inviting the listener and then saying goodbye - it's a debut album - Vedder writes about people who can't escape something - it's sad but sounds so big - past lead singer died

Fragile by Yes

- musically, they sound confident, yet as a band, due to the suddent change in keyboardist, they were breakable -- fragile - very experimental - ridiculously technically accomplished - looking at humanity from far away - cover 4 full band compositions: Roundabout South Side of the Sky Long Distance Runaround Heart of the Sunrise Between them are little musical portraits of the individual musicians. Lot's of Piano -- feels very spiritual and nature lot's of journey's in nature that are mirroring the emotional state of the singers -- kinda like romanticism Order emerging from chaos - constantly makes you think the music is about to fall apart - different rhythms, abrupt interruptions - guitar, bass, piano, drums, vocals 1. absolutely love the guitar intro, a magical gateway, great song for traveling, journey with roundabouts and mountains and lakes 2. classical arrangement, adaptation of brahms fourth symphony, crazy to interleave rock and classical music - piano guy 3. experimental vocal; transcendence - vocal guy 4. Again nature element, polar-expedition, environment is hostile, halfway through piano enters, leads to serenity 5. very experimental, jazz kinda, rhythmically ridiculous and intentionally disorienting - drums guy 6. questioning religious ideas, spiritual searching, instruments having separate conversations 7. lots of bass, layered, keeps on growing - bass guy 8. guitar, spanish influences? - guitar guy 9. alienation in modern city, crazy and intense intro, civilization isnt comforting, Listen when: you want an experimental, otherworldly journey that feels bigger than you.

Raising Hell by Run-D.M.C.

I can see how this really influenced hiphop culture in mainstream media - aerosmith with rap? crazy collab - rock influences in hiphop show up in other songs not really my style but I can understand the hype

Stand! by Sly & The Family Stone

groovy stand up for what u believe (recorded year after MLK assassination) a lot of the songs feel very communal, its about the us not me. the third song for instance, there is no conventional narrative and singers trade vocals very upbeat album overall, makes u immediately happy. a warm hug Really like Sing a Simple Song political when u want to feel hopeful very danceable
