Still sounds spooky today, and not in a campy way. This must have shat some pants 50 years ago. I love the majority of the album… except for “Warning”. Blues wankery is not what Iommi lost his fingertips for, but thankfully they’ll drop this right after. Still deserves an A
Heavy 1001 is Heavy reviews
The album that codified so many heavy metal tropes into one. It has some brilliant tracks, such as the title track, The Wizard, and NIB. However, I think it falls flat in the second half, with some pretty unmemorable songs.
Very good, quintessential heavy metal/proto-doom record, though not my favourite Sabbath.
Fun album. I think if I heard this in the 70s, I'd probably like it more. 3/5
