New discovery for me. I like the voice, and the music is for sure not bad, but all in all a bit monotonous.
Once again I knew the name and perhaps one or two songs but never listen to a whole album from him. This is a very good indie, lo-fi, guitar/voice album. All songs are carefuly carved, it feels like he's playing on the couch close to you. No fuss, nothing to fancy, but it works well. Sad and sometimes insanely beautiful.
Another album where the artist was new to me and another case where they died tragically young. This is very much in the vein of 60s singer/songwriters but some of the lyrics are definitely something that wouldn’t have appeared in those days. By all accounts this was more of a hit after Smith’s passing, making some of these songs sound very poignant.
