When I saw the cover my first thought was "ugh, an R&B album" (not exactly my favourite genre). I launched the album nonetheless. I rapidely understood my mistake. Comes Cold War, and I'm totally won over. Comes Come Alive, and I know I'll relisten to this. It's very diverse (too diverse?) but it's full of (good) ideas, she's clearly not afraid of exploring uncharted territories and of unholly alliance between genres.

I went into this album completely cold and was delightfully surprised. It's eclectic, weird and expansive, but still very musical and enjoyable (despite mostly falling into genres I don't listen to much). Songs that I'm sure I'd never heard before felt quite familiar, which was bizarre but wonderful.
I think I'll re-listen to this a lot.

I wasn’t expecting today’s selection to be an Afrofuturist concept album inspired by Fritz Lang’s Metropolis, but it turns out that it was exactly what I needed this morning. It’s gloriously textured and complex and I’m already listening for the second time. I’m also a sucker for any album that has an orchestral overture! My highlight is the psychedelic Mushrooms & Roses which explores the unexpected subject of robot sex. Droidtastic!
