I am not very familiar with the genre. Mariah Carey has an amazing voice, but I can't help, it annoys me after a couple of songs.
That was painful. I feel like I spent an hour drowning in a field of marshmallows with unicorns farting rainbows all around me and believe it or not, but farting unicorns sound exactly like Mariah Carey does on this record.
Listening to this album is a bit like taking a bath in warm syrup - soothing and relaxing, but ultimately a bit over sweet. Mariah Carey has a gorgeous voice, but she does that thing where it warbles over half a dozen notes in a single word. It’s probably technically very accomplished, but it sounds like a real life autotune in places. The best song was a cover of Prince’s Beautiful Ones and I liked the tweeting bird noises too.
Great voice, too many "oooooh aaaaaahs" though.
Meh.
Look, I tried. I'm 3 songs in and I think that'll do. For someone with such an amazing voice, she somehow manages to convey no emotion. Weird.
