Reminds me of Coldplay. The music doesn't hurt, but it's not thrilling either.
The album does not survive the first impression given by the magnificent intro, mixing shoegaze & trip-hop bits. It's not bad either, but I was hooked by these first 3 minutes and was let down too fast. I read that many compare them to Coldplay and I globally disagree: the music is better built, there's no gimmicks as putting keyboards everywhere and sad voices. There are regularly interesting bits (hints of shoegaze, sometimes lots of reverb on the voice, bits of electronic music). But it feels like it could have been better, more inventive, more thrilling that it is. 3 minutes after listening to the album I was excited, 30 minutes later I was nostalgic for all this album could have been.
Oooh, this was an interesting one! Elements of shoe gaze, trip hop and a touch of electronica. According to Wikipedia they started as a dance music group with a hit single before a fire in their studio destroyed all of their work in progress, prompting them into a complete change of direction. It reminded me a little of Coldplay, but predates them by a couple of months. I like this a lot!
