I think, with exception of Adele, that this is the first fairly recent band I know and like. The Black Keys apparently broke through to the mainstream with "Brothers", but the first album that I heard to was "El Camino" with a great single "Lonely Boy". I was very curious if "Brothers" is as good, or maybe even better. First couple songs were pointing to the latter - "Everlasting Light", "Next Girl" and especially "Tighten Up". Catchy melody, very low maintenance, just a simple riff, actually good drumming and great vocal by Dan Auerbach. Those tracks sound like something you could make up with you friends in 24 hours, but somehow it makes much more sense and brings a great atmosphere, feeling like you're listening to an alternative rock band in some obscure pub in the middle of nowhere, great stuff. Unfortunately, listening to the whole album wasn't such a nice experience. I felt like The Black Keys had written three or four riffs and the just split and cut them into 15 songs. Fifteen chicken dishes in different style, even if you try it will become pretty stale after a while. In general, it's great when you want to listen to song or two, but binging whole album? Probably not such a good idea.
