Upon my first listen, The Queen Is Dead torn out my heart and had me sobbing. Hell, "I Know It's Over" is directly responsible for the breakdown of my relationship. I quoted to him "Love is natural and real, but not for such as you and I, my love," and he didn't even respond. It was then I came to the stark realization that we weren't meant to be. "The Queen Is Dead" is probably one of the most well-crafted albums of it's time, complete with Marr's melodic guitar melodies and Morrissey's poetic woes. An absolute masterpiece, regardless of who Morrissey is as a human being, this album is an epiphany for what I consider ultimate music: Raw and gritty, desolate, yet achingly tender and poetic.
