Hard to push past the individuals problematic personal life to really appreciate the music and not have it tainted by questioning what was he really singing about in these songs. But the idea of the album and the rawness of the recording is refreshing in a way you rarely get anymore. Concerts are all in such large venues and have such fancy recording equipment, but this feels like you were in a small club bopping along.
