I actually liked Taylor Swift when she was a country singer. She felt genuine and refreshing among the crappy pop-country of the time. This wasn't to my taste, but I think the appeal is the same for her now as it was then. She manages to take the blandest most boring pop and generic lyrics and make it somehow sound genuine, heartfelt and relatable. I think what she does, she does well and clearly it works for a huge amount of people. I gotta give some credit for that even if I struggled a bit waiting for it to end.
