I don’t have much exposure to Elvis Costello, despite him being what I would consider “up my alley”. At first I was a bit off-put by the vocal affectations. It strikes me as an approach someone would take to mask their lack of talent. But as the album marches on the songs get more diverse, I find myself more impressed. His impact on future music is apparent. I hear disco-funk, punk, ska, and 80s crooning. I particularly liked “Two Little Hitlers” and “Sunday’s Best”.
