Wish You Were Here
Pink Floyd

Another album where it's impossible to do it justice in words. There's so much detail here. Sonically, it's almost perfect for me. The guitar, bass and drums all sound great but it's the keyboards that often take center stage. Especially in the spacey first part of Shine On You Crazy Diamond and the dystopian sounding Welcome to the Machine. The soloing is bluesy, especially obvious in Have a Cigar. The title track is the highlight. Beautiful lyrics. Acoustic guitar and piano building to a crescendo. There's no big solo, just a fade out and windswept segue into the last track. The second half of Shine On is darker, brooding. It's a masterclass in creating atmosphere.
