Really glad I discovered this! I'm not going to try and describe the sound or influences - first and foremost this sounds like a musician/ artist stubbornly doing their thing. This album sounds authentic and sounds great without being over-produced. I like the creativity and the use of a variety of instruments (and non-instruments) esp. for the rhythm (Tom Waits fan talking here :-)). I have listened to this album three times and also to two other Apple albums. Not all of it is 100% my think, but overall I'd say, a nice antidote to polished, poppy, but utterly boring music. There should be more Fiona Apples.
