Listened to the Legacy Edition which sounded better to me with less background static. It took a while to find the kind of jazz I like but this is it. Definitely not the fusion jazz-rock of his later career, but there's still an ambient quality to it that appeals. It just oozes atmosphere in a wistful kind of way. I've listened to this a handful of times already and I feel like I could play it for years to come. Even so, it's approachable and pleasant to the untrained ear. Favorite pieces: probably the delicate Blue in Green and follow up track All Blues, but that might change. At the risk of letting this album's big reputation influence me, I'm happy giving this top marks.
