Brothers In Arms
Dire Straits

I love a solid 1-2 punch to start an album and this has it with So Far Away and then Money For Nothing, its iconic riff worming its way into your brain. The guitar tone is still incredible. Walk of Life is next, one of the most feel good songs they've done and a firm favourite. Then we slow the pace down with Your Latest Trick, a sultry sax driven piece. The second half stays mostly in this slower and more melancholy place. The meandering Ride Across The River is particularly interesting, and One World with its funky bass licks. The poignant title track is a perfect closer and never fails to make me misty eyed. I already knew I loved this album but it's worth noting how many difference genres they pull from and how dynamic the sound is. The band sadly never really built on this, but it's an all timer.
