Damon Albarn seems to be a musician of endless versatility. Whether it's the superior Brit Pop of Blur, the dance floor infectiousness of Gorillaz or this project which melds all kinds of stylings, British music hall, Jamaican music hall, rock steady groove electro pop of this quiet little project. It surely helps to have sidemen the likes of Paul Simonon, Simon Tong and Tony Allen. As well as Danger Mouse's knob turning talents though here I do think the mastering is a little bit hot. But the songs are all very well constructed and held my interest throughout the entire 42 minutes. 3.5 stars
