SZA

I didn't know what to expect but this is a vibe. Love Galore has an addiciive sound, percussive with calm synth pads. There's a retro feel to the production, but not in the way I expected. 80s or early 90s EDM vibes at times, a weird mix of dystopia and nostalgia for me. Doves in the Wind is more measured, a steady breakbeat. Kendrick adds to the track but it's the beat that has me paying attention. Drew Barrymore then shows what SZA can do vocally, the stripped down production letting her shine. Strings lead into Prom with maybe the best beat so far, glitchy with layers of synths. Go Gina is another good one and Garden is even better, featuring a looping synth riff I really dig. I don't know who produced this, but I want to find out. I don't think the second half is overall as strong, but there's some great stuff here.
