This has a surprisingly high average rating, for what people tend to like here. The backstory explains a lot of this though. I feel the story behind how this album was formed really enhances what would otherwise not be the most memorable listen. But considering the horrible situation in which this was performed it's amazing how well it sounds. Jarrett's playing is absolutely brilliant, the seeming lack of other clearly defined instruments being more than made up with his talent. This album never bores even though it's a one hour, 4-part listen. The piano is just mesmerising and you can really get caught in listening to it.
