Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots
The Flaming Lips
Never really listened intently to the flaming lips before.
Broken Bells/Danger Mouse vibes.
Pt. 1 of the Album's namesake is awesome - love a narrative in a song. the glitch rumble in the chorus gets a little overdone by the end of the song. Chorus is very catchy.
Pt 2 is great too - instrumental, imagine this is the actual battle. Awesome bass sounds.
I'm starting to realize the whole album flows together like a story. Cool stuff.

I mean I didn't love it. There were some songs I recognized that I had no clue were by this artist - but overall, I felt like I skipped more songs on this album than listened to completely.

Only liked parts of the albums namesake track. Nothing before 2min mark though.
Cross-eyed Mary is a solid track - flute is badass. Full on Anchorman jazz flute solo.
Keys sound ok, but very basic for having so much presence in the mix.
UK Folky, foot tapping fun - Mother Goose
Locomotive Breath- keys come alive. And the crazy flute is back! Love it.
Really grew on me, but no where near other similar bands of the same period (like zeppelin)

Silence- creepy vocals actually gave me goosebumps. head pumpin drum loops.
Defiantly weird. Might be just a little too downtempo and a 90's grunge sad with 2000's electronic dissonance.

So loving this album. 4 songs in and I think I've added 3 to playlists. Great sounds: piano, strings, driving base, catchy guitar. Vocals are solid aswell.
Driving, ensemble rock with lots of instruments/variety of sounds with folk roots - but more rock than anything else.
Piano theme, and horns in 'World Party' are incredible. Strings create a great feel to the song.
Every song has so much great feel. this is likely going to be my first 5 star.
some nice authentic feeling songs on the second disk.
The final song, 12 min long, Soon As I Get Home builds to the most pumping crescendo in the second half of the song. definition of a full on jam session. yes a 5 star album.

I liked it. Fun rock with lots of folk undertones. Story telling lyrics. There was just something about it that I didn't need to add almost any songs to playlists. Not that its bad, just less my cup of tea.

Not a band I was very familiar with - but it's good. Feels like it would be the most pop rock album during its time, but now it's just a fun rock. Has an almost manic energy in a way that's similar to Les Claypool (Clockwork Creep).
Somewhere in Hollywood has a riff used in a Bond film theme.
The Sacro-Iliac almost has crosby, stills, nash, & young harmonies.
Really enjoyed this album
