The College Dropout
Kanye West
one of my favorites of all time.
This is kanye at his rawest and funniest which along with crackin samples and productions, are the main reasons anyone should be listening to kanye in the first place, and this album got those.
Its funny to look back on the way “wake up mr west” has evolved over the years. before i had listened to his earlier stuff i had assumed it was a butler gently waking him up.
favorite songs:
all falls down, space ship, jesus walks, the new workout plan, slow jamz, through the wire

Young Americans
David Bowie
not my favorite bowie but still pretty cool.
catchy but not as consistent. It's cool to see him switch his style up, but it's clear it's not as honed as it could be. Maybe his later projects in this style will have catchier songwriting and more polished instrumentation.

Wild Is The Wind
Nina Simone
Her voice sounds old. You really feel like she's going through some shit. It took a second listening for me to recognize that a lot of the instrumentation was pretty modern. Some of it, like WKOBMH, sounds kinda movie score-ish, which is cool, but there are neat guitar riffs, Cool drum pieces, and even some cool showtune harmonies.
