Despite its reputation, I'd never heard the album. I've never been a big Springsteen fan and found the album a bit hit and miss. There were some decent tracks but also some mediocre ones.
The album received critical acclaim upon its release and continues to entertain listeners to this day. It was a marked shift from his previous, and while some of the tracks seem superfluous, the majority of them are excellent.
Gold, Adams’ major-label solo debut, is still a little too long. It’s not until “Somehow, Someday,” a third of the way in, that Adams catches up to his reputation as country noir’s hurt king.
