Trans Europe Express by Kraftwerk

Tedious, sterile and joyless. I really don't understand the appeal of this music - except maybe as a background, ambient sound. Felt a lot longer than 43 minutes.

The Stranger by Billy Joel

2/5 Didn't think I knew this album, but it seems I do Can we talk about how weird the album cover is? Fine... Movin out is a good start. 'The Stranger' more what I expected (i.e. worse) Just the way you are' is what it is, a very lovely, soft-pop classic Scenes, Vienna is meh. Only the good - picks up a bit but lacks intensity She's always a woman - the sexual politics are very dated and immediately blaring - nice, sub-dylan lyric line, tho' Get it right - far superior in my eyes. funky rhythm and lyric. Not horribly sexist. Everybody has a dream - not mine. Mostly forgettable pop shite with 2-3 standout tracks that are deviations from the artist's main work.

Like A Prayer by Madonna
Nov 03 2021

An excellent album - a true evolution from the early pop period showing the way to the radiant Ray of Light The title track, Love Song (feat. Prince), Cherish, Oh Father and Act of Contrition are really fabulous.

Is This It by The Strokes
Nov 04 2021

Bought this when it came out - they were hotly tipped by the NME. Played it obsessively for about a week. Haven't listened to it again since. Think it holds up *fairly* well. Their sound was quite retro on this album - could be mistaken for Lou Reed at times. Gets quite samey after the first three tracks, though. Last Nite perks it up again a little, but then the last few tracks were a grind.

Bursting with bangers - my favourite album in the list so far. Dammers deserved far more praise than he got.

Good Times is still great - the rest... pleasant enough

Live And Dangerous by Thin Lizzy

Not really my cup of tea. But I can understand its appeal to rock fans.
