Roads and Glory Box are obvious stand-outs, but a cursory look at Portishead's Spotify page could have told you that. I can't really call the album boring - the instrumentation is pretty wacky throughout - but at the same time I'm not really moved by it. Found myself saying "that sure is a song" occasionally. But, you know, Glory Box still slaps.
Short but sweet, from arguably the masters of disco. My Feet Keep Dancing is a stand-out imo, but the entire album is pretty good.
This is, uh, kinda a masterpiece, right? I mean, the singles are exemplary, but the whole thing is warm, sweet, delicious pop goodness. Taylor Swift is at her best here, Max Martin and Jack Antonoff snapped, and I really wish I would have appreciated this more when it came out.
Stand-outs: I Wish You Would, Blank Space, Style, Out of the Woods, Bad Blood, New Romantics
When I saw this I thought, hmm, a live album? But this one actually has an interesting context, and it's fun to listen to the bits where Cash and the other performers talk to the audience. Full disclosure: I didn't sit through the whole thing.
I don't think this is for me, but it's still a good album.
It gets a little samey, but the guitar work is pretty good. Too bad I can't really stand Lemmy's voice, and the lyrics are.. something.
I'm noticing a pattern with a lot of these albums where I can recognize that, yes, this is Good Music, and it's fairly enjoyable to listen to, but it doesn't really do very much for me. Will I put this on again? Most likely, no. But it was an enjoyable experience nevertheless. Bonus points for the girls going absolutely hogwild during Lost Someone, haha.
