Music From Big Pink
The BandA classic, can't believe I hadn't come across it.
A classic, can't believe I hadn't come across it.
A lot of fun, I wonder if Trent reznor and Atticus Ross were Bowie fans.
While I can see the appeal it didn't hold my interest much. The parts I enjoyed the most were the drums.
The textures and percussion in this one are what really caught my attention. I had those first glimmers of interest before I fully come to appreciate a type of music that I was previously too far removed from to click with. The introduction, Paranoia man in a cheap shit room, Service and the outro to A past gone mad. Seems like an entry album for sure.
I had to set aside my preconceptions about dance music to give it a go, and it was well worth the chance. It has the same kind of experimental sampling I'm drawn towards in concrete music and lowercase, just high energy. Favourite track was Don't Give Up because of the intensity. Rated 3/5 overall because I enjoyed the album, but probably won't actively seek it out again.
