Coles Corner by Richard Hawley
Sep 07 2022

Great atmospheric album, you can really feel Hawley's influences in his songwriting and performance. Found two new faves in The Ocean and Last Orders. Will return to this album when the atmosphere calls for it.

Grace by Jeff Buckley
Sep 08 2022
The Queen Is Dead by The Smiths
Sep 12 2022

Awkward timing but then that’s the essence of adolescence, which this album captures so sweetly.

Sign 'O' The Times by Prince
Sep 13 2022

There’s an interesting argument about whether this or Purple Rain is the more essential Prince album. I enjoyed that debate more than the album itself. It’s definitely more intellectual and maybe breaks more ground sonically - it’s certainly fun to pick up its influence on more recent artists, but makes me more excited to jump forward to D’Angelo or jump back to Purple Rain.

Sep 15 2022

Big sound rooted in their influences (blues, radiohead, clapton) that, all these years later, sound indelibly like the mid-aughts, Black Keys and truck commercials.

Younger Than Yesterday by The Byrds
Sep 16 2022

Another album more interesting as an experiment of its time an an influence on future music of the era. Doesn’t have the same staying power as other genre bending stuff like Sgt Pepper or Donovan.
