Decent, enjoyable sounds on the track, but vocals were very flushed out. Not much progression from the front to back either. Prob wouldn’t revisit
The breakup of songs threw me off. Not my favorite sound either
Old rock is almost always better than newer rock and that’s def the case here. The progression of this album as in song intensities is near perfect. My favorite progression is that among a bell curve and this is just like that, it starts pretty relaxed and then everything crashes. The outro is very encore vibes which I also love. I have never heard of Perry Ferrell (the singer) before today and I absolutely love his unorthodox sound. These are some of the most insane guitar rifs I’ve heard and I’m obsessed. Like I said it’s hard for me to judge rock but there was never a dull moment, no skips. 9/10 THIS IS ROCK, THIS IS A CLASSIC
Not your typical “rock” and I’m here for it. PJ put you on a roller coaster and you didn’t know what the next turn was. I’m actually obsessed with her voice, it’s so raspy and lays extremely well with the power chords that hit like boulders. The way she takes a strike at gender politics in 1992 is beautiful. There is so much I wanna say about this album but idrk how to put it into words and that’s almost how the entire album is. It makes you feel something but you don’t know what or why you’re feeling this. At the end of the day, it’s PJ Harvey, a legend. 9.2/10, I loved this!
First ever PF album. I completely understand now why it’s so heavily devoted and respect in the music industry as a whole. Every song is very cinematic and makes you feel like you are in a movie. Music is an art of its own in the way it’s used as story telling and how it can set a mood, and this album does a great job of that. I take the year into respect because hearing this in the 70s/80s is kind of insane, but after first listen I’m going to say this album is slightly overrated. I have little complaints, but it’s def not a 10/10 and a “perfect album”. Personal rating is going to be a 8.9/10
