Liked D.A.N.C.E but not really any others

Garbage by Garbage
Nov 29 2022

Definitely nostalgic hearing the singles. I always liked Stupid Girl, I’m Only Happy When it Rains, and Queer. My favorite “new” song is Stroke of Luck.

Another reviewer called this album “chaotic, over the top horror”. I think that sums it up pretty well. Through the use of his characters Eminem aims to shock and offend, while distancing himself a bit from the challenging content. As many others have noted, his skill as a rapper and the catchy, unique beats make this a pretty great album. I remember being fascinated as a teenager when this came out. Still, as an adult the violent and sexist lyrics are sometimes hard to swallow. Giving this one four stars because of its uniqueness, production value, and skill. Though I don’t think I’ll be listening to this one through very often.

The Renaissance by Q-Tip

Pretty chill, smooth rap. Liked it more than I expected. At times a bit boring to me but overall I enjoyed. 3 stars.

I Should Coco by Supergrass
Dec 02 2022

“Energetic” is indeed a good way to describe this album. I was hoping to enjoy it because I really love Gaz Coombes’ solo stuff. This album didn’t really do it for me overall. 2.5 stars

Nilsson Schmilsson by Harry Nilsson
Dec 03 2022

Nice surprise! Only familiar with Coconut prior to this. Nilsson’s voice is special. The songs were fairly diverse and quirky in their arrangements. Gotta Get Up reminded me of Billy Joel.

Hearts And Bones by Paul Simon
Dec 04 2022

Never been a huge Paul Simon fan. Always found his music a tad boring. This album landed the same way for me. I really like his voice, but overall not an album I’d be excited to listen to again.

First time listening to a Queen album. Previously I was only familiar with a handful of hits (think Bohemian Rhapsody). This album was fun, energetic, and diverse.
