Enjoyed the funk, soul and disco grooves. Definitely started off with the strongest two songs and petered out towards the end, Michael Jackson really did have a claim to be the king of pop with hella tight music, a versatile and entertaining vocal style and a groove you can’t help but dance to
Songs are fun metal romps, guitar passages end up sounding very same y and similar sounding towards the end of the album. Probably wouldn’t need to listen to the whole album again to get enjoyment, just one or two songs Also 22 acacia avenue got some sus lyrics. Number of the beast kinda goated tho
Pre-Listening Notes: The first album I’ve actually listened to before this album, although not as visceral and as painful/beautifully aggressive as The Holy Bible (probably due to the unfortunate presumed passing of Richey Edwards), the cleaner and more melodic focused sound with the added touches of symphonic flare in songs such as A Design For Life still make it a fantastically fluid and catchy album with many solid riffs and poignant lyrics. A Design For Life still remains one of my favourite tracks of all time and re listening to this album has only cemented it there further, while No Surface All Feeling is the perfect gut punch emotional closure to wrap up a fantastic album Relistening Notes:
Fun blues rock, proud Mary is an all time classic
kinda boring ngl, never really did anything for me as a kid and still doesn’t do anything for me now Passages that don’t go anywhere, no emotional build up or climax. Instrumentation is cool I guess
Fun doo wop/pop record, innocent but ultimately average and samey
