There is not much to say that already hasn't been said. Hendrix is the greatest guitarist of all time, full stop. It was great to return to his first album and listen to some songs I had forgotten. I particularly enjoyed Highway Chile. Stone Free, Foxy Lady, Purple Haze, and Hey Joe are some certifiable classics.
Lou Reed is truly an icon. I absolutely loved Walk On the Wild Side and Vicious. His sound is very unique, but David Bowie producing the album does influence the sound a bit.
I don't usually like most funk albums, but this was a noteable exception. I really liked Africa Talks to You and Spaced Cowboy.
Eric Clapton is my beloved little blues guitarist. I've recently come to appreciate good blues. This album is an excellent example of good blues. No, amazing blues!
People have been telling me to listen to this album for years and I wish I had sooner. This is one of the greatest albums I have ever heard. The way Buckley sings with passion and moving lyrics over ethereal melodies is truly magical. I don't think I could pick a favorite when the whole album is almost perfect.
Personally, I'm not the hugest fan of rap rock. I mean I like me some good RATM. I definitely hear similarities to RATM, they were probably inspired by Cypress Hill. Especially with How I Could Just Kill a Man. The Phuncky Feel One is also very good. The rest of the album is okay. I like their energy, but not so much their sound.
American Idiot is a classic punk rock/pop album. It symbolized and represented a young generation's fear for their collective future. Jesus of Suburbia is one of my favorite Green Day songs, and while American Idiot is maybe overplayed, it is still a bop. Nevertheless, it is still a pop punk album.
If I wanted to listen to a bunch of hippies singing folk music, I wouldn't, because I don't want to listen to a bunch of hippies singing folk music.
This may be my father's favorite album, but it certainly is not mine. I can see why many people enjoy Crosby, Stills & Nash, but they are not for me.
Nevertheless, Wooden Ships and Marrakesh Express are quite good.
