Never Mind The Bollocks, Here’s The Sex Pistols
Sex Pistols
love the punk sounds and vocals. im personally unaware of the context this came out in but there is a level of inflated anarchy to it. my first time listening to sex pistols.
i really like the way the singer enunciates some of the words.
sex pistols is such a punk name actually. sex and pistols. such taboo topics.
tackling and challenging modernity; and those who simply drift through life.
bodies, the song about abortion really stuck with me because of the current debates surrounding abortion laws all over the world. its very interesting. i never really looked at things in the way this song presented them to be.
really good album man, probably my favourite that ive heard this year. after exmilitary

Funeral
Arcade Fire
the pretty sounds from this album seem to scratch an itch in my brain that has been nagging my subconscious for several months now.
ive wanted to listen to something like this for so long, something that feels like a mix of neutral milk hotel (especially with the album art!) and my bloody valentine.
but at the same time i feel like saying the above is an injustice to how uniquely all of the records elements synergise together. you dont see some of the instruments and individual styles used together as often as some of the songs on here do.
im a big fan of the sounds on this record; theres something spectral about them, maybe its got something to do with the theme and the title of the album, "funeral". its strange. but in a good way.
i really feel the depth of the emotions that come from the vocals, especially with the dude. i feel like as enthusiasts of music we dont really talk enough about the little vocal intonations that go into adding to the whole experience of a record. i notice the same things in film, we love talking about the grand and loud emotional performances of actors and often avoid the performances that convey so much through subtlety.
theres some french weaved into here as well, which im definitely a fan of. i think it goes well with the themes and sounds.
my top 3:
power out is definitely one of my favourites on this album. i just like the sounds and lyrics a lot.
7 kettles is really interesting to me, the way they used the sound of the kettle and very smoothly weaved it into the song.
rebellion is definitely my favourite. it sounds dreamy yet ambitious at the same time. and i really love the theme of it as a whole.
PS in the backseat is such a beautiful outro. it makes me feel the same way id feel as a child when my favourite adventure movie was ending, or when i finished reading 13 reasons why. its just a peaceful grieving.
so good
