Electric Warrior by T. Rex

Meh. I don’t hate it but it doesn’t do anything for me. It’s pretty generic sounding and it may have been ahead of its time, but I don’t feel like it’s aged super well.

This may be the strongest string of starting ballad tracks on any album. But, the rest of the album falls a bit short after such a strong start. Both of my parents absolutely love U2 so this one has a strong nostalgic factor for me.

Musically, I really loved this album. Great rhythms and loops, the beat switches on the song black are great. The repetition is slam poetry to the max, love it. Thematically, it feels a little one dimensional. It’s like I want more emotion out of it but it’s really just one note to me.

Jazz Samba by Stan Getz

First of all, the quality of talent and production on this album is incredible. This is a 1960s recording!? It sounds like you’re in the room with them, the stereo production is beautifully done. Second, it’s an easy listen. Very chill while still being upbeat, danceable almost. Just grooves. I’d love to get this on vinyl and throw this on while cooking or drinking and chatting. Not a ton of musical variety, but the tracks do transition and have narrative which I like. Don’t think there’s a skippable track on here for me

A very cool blending of genres and styles. Hard rock, electronic, spanish influence… it’s got it all. Knights of Cydonia is a classic. Map of the Problematique is prob my favorite from the album. But while it’s got a cool blend of everything it’s just that… it’s a little generic.

Some good vibes on this album but it didn’t hold my attention
