1001 Albums Summary

Just like "Fun House," this rocks pretty hard (maybe even harder) and was undeniably ahead of it's time for punk music. Can't really name any standout tracks, but that's because the insane energy is retained the whole way through. I'm not sure their music has fully clicked with me yet, but it is still very enjoyable. Looking forward to listening to more of The Stooges. I've also discovered that there are several different mixes to this album, and that David Bowie's versions are notoriously bad. I definitely noticed this after putting on the first song of the 2023 remaster, as I pretty much immediately switched to the other version that was on YouTube Music. Worth listening again? For sure. RHCP is one of those bands that I feel like I should have gotten into in middle school or high school, but that's not to say that they're a juvenile or amateur band. I really have no problems with this album, other than a complete lack of personal connection to it. There's a lot of good grooves on here and the sound is pretty tight, but to me, this is just a bunch of middle of the road funky alternative rock. Hoping to one day understand what the hype is all about. Worth listening again? I don't see why not Initial rating: 3/5 (I like it)
