Some great stuff here, but very little of it really hooked me. Also, way more talk about poop than I normally like in my music.
Absolutely not the right Ray Charles album to put on a list like this, but it still ain't bad.

Damn, that Scientologist sure can rock! Great album. "Sissyneck" and "High 5" are highlights.
Far be it from me to ever besmirch the great name of Jimi Hendrix. His highs are extremely high here, but I snoozed through a lot of the album. "Hey Joe" and "The Wind Cries Mary" are all-timers, but I didn't really connect with anything beyond the songs everybody knows. I'd love to give it an extra star, but there's just too much there that doesn't need to be there.
Reggae is a bottom-five genre for me, but it's still easy to tell that this is top-tier reggae. I can't really give it more than a three, but if I liked the genre, that number would be much higher.
If there's a more beautiful album on this list, I'm going to be very surprised.

As is probably going to be the case with at least 50% of this list, this is not one of my genres. Still, it's obviously very well done. If it was my kind of thing, it'd be higher than a three.
Janis is obviously a force of nature, but this isn't really my thing.
I have a complicated history with ska. I loved it when I was a teenager, but somewhere along the way, the part of my brain that was receptive to the genre broke, and now I can't stand it. The Specials feel very much like the blueprint for ska, so I respect them for that, but as I said, I don't like ska, so maybe that respect doesn't translate into a charitable rating from me.
I can't imagine why anyone would put a Jane's Addiction list on any list of recommended albums, but here we are. The guitar work here is often great, but I like absolutely nothing else about this.
I prefer electric to acoustic, but Kurt was wonderful and this is an undeniable classic.
This isn't my thing, but Missy is great and there's some good stuff here.
The music here is great, but this is my first proper exposure to Mayfield and I didn't really care for his near-constant falsetto. Sorry!
Once again, not how I think they should've chosen to showcase the artist, but Brown is undeniably great. This feels like including a Beatles album, but it's Beatles '65. Not bad by any means, but not putting their absolute best foot forward.
I hate this shit, man. Like, I'm sure he's a talented artist, and this seems competently made. And maybe he's a great guy, I don't know. And this definitely could've been worse! But, man, I fucking hate modern popular country music.

I've always gotten Supergrass and Superchunk confused. All I can ever remember is that I really like one of them. Turns out, Superchunk's the one I like. This isn't bad, it's just far too... Britpop for me.
This was a HUGE album for me when it came out. I mean, yeah, since then we've realized Moby is kind of a dumbass, but damn, back in 1999, that white boy could mix. He introduced me to some great soul and gospel music, so whatever dumb bullshit he's done, this album still kicks ass.
