In Rainbows by Radiohead

I don’t know what I expected, but not this? I’ve admittedly haven’t listened to Radiohead much outside of Creep. I think I’ve been missing out. This album is interesting musically and lyrically. Kind of like rock, jazz, and EDM mixed into one.

Who is listening to this after playing Breath of the Wild, and feel like monsters are going to come out? Lol! But seriously I’m not really into progressive rock, but this band might have changed my mind a little. I hear the influences from Jazz. I like the piano solo in “South Side of the Sky”. It was a nice break from the common trips of this genre. Also, I think Japanese video game music is heavily influenced by progressive rock.

Vol. 4 by Black Sabbath
Jun 29 2023

Definitely a genre defining album for rock and heavy metal. I hear a lot of influences for later bands. I thought that it was interesting that one of Black Sabbath's main influences is The Beatles. They sound nothing alike!

At Folsom Prison by Johnny Cash

Amazing. A classic masterclass in storytelling.
