As a zoomer born in 2000, this is a very slow listen. I'm not a blues fan and seeing the impact this album has had is hard due to it's major impact being on the next generation of artists in the late 60's / early 70's. With that the energy that this album brings is very much alive with many of the performers giving it there all. I think for me the album really shows this at got my mojo working pt 1 and 2. Where I think the album becomes a hard listen is when the traditional blues come out in songs such as soon forgotten, I'm your hoochie coochie man, and I got my brand on you. I wouldn't say these songs are bad just more not my taste, the hardship sound that comes from these songs aren't up my alley and I much prefer the more energetic songs. Overall in a personal rating considering all factors I would give the album a 6.5/10. Not something I would regularly listen to, but for the time of this album the performance is the best I've heard. I could see this review changing with the more music I listen to that is from this generation, but for now my appreciation for these early blues sounds aren't there.
This album shocked me. Very much a classic, I didn’t write a great review for this and it’s not as in-depth as I’d like. Nor did I look at the lyrics of many of the songs. It’s a very simple and clean punk album, from what I know this sound inspired the punk that we get still to this day and has left it’s cultural mark. In todays stands of listening a 7/10 for me.
5/10 Very slow songs that imo haven’t aged well with time. Very basic sounds and lyricism that when gets interesting, barely dives into the topics and instead goes back to very thoughtless lyrics. There are some great peaks in this album that show how much talent the eagles do have, but this very much seems like an album that wasn’t thought out much and was an introductory album. (INDIVIDUAL SONGS THOUGHTS) Take it Easy - what an American tune. about just relaxing and going through life without overthinking the things around you. a little boring but it’s the theme of the song. Witchy woman - about a crazy heroine addict who fucks all night. it’s alright simple riffs. Chug all night - fun verses. I actually hate the chorus LOL. Again another song about wanting a girl. It’s one of the better songs but still eh. Most of us are sad - what a change up from wanting to have sex with heroine addicts and groupies. Good song fairly simple, a good break from the other songs. Nightingale - really fun song, the lyrics are well thought out. Way more creativity with this one. Train leaves this morning - I believe it’s about a girl that he believes was the one but didn’t work due to the situation they were in. He never wanted the truth from her and never looked back. Again I like the writing on this one more, this seems more emotional than “most of us are sad”. Take the devil: about being guided by the devil. Very simple song but i don’t know if back in the 70s if this was a well talked about topic during the rage of drugs and women that would come with fame. It’s eh Early bird - bird sample was sick. Ending guitar solo is cool af. The actually song is eh but I can pick things that really stand out Peaceful easy feeling - like this one. Well constructed song. Tryin’ - good ending song. High energy a good note to end on.
7.5/10 Overall I see the ramones as a barebones punk album. I like it, individually most songs are fun and have good vibes. As an album this album really lacks, it’s a very simple formula for most of the songs here. I wish there was a little more feeling than just being punk because you’re bored. There’s no really reason they explain this feeling other than boredom. The album feels like they made it for the idea of how it would sound and not because it resinates with them. Notes got deleted before I saved fuck… First 3 songs are sick. I wanna be your boyfriend is eh I don’t think these simple love songs work with this band. Chain saw -I’m at a weird mix for this song, the chainsaw sample is sick but it still feels pretty forgettable. Now I wanna sniff some glue - this shit is peak punk honestly. If you were to give me the most raw punk it’s for sure screaming kids want to sniff glue.
8/10 great album, listened on a train and my audio was spotty. Internet went out and a ton of notes got deleted Solid album with a lot of great topics from addiction, fame and love. Such a solid album honestly. The album as a whole can get repetitive for me around tracks 4-8. Sometimes I couldn’t recognize a song had switched. Mothers little helper - crazy intro to an album, hope it sets the themes they’ll cover for the rest Stupid girl - I mean it’s funny, but I think by the end I was sick of hearing LOOK AT THAT STUUUUPID GIRLLLL. Lady Jane - feels like a very ancient poem, as a song I wouldn’t listen to much but this in the album is a cool change that keeps everything fresh. Under my thumb - eh, can’t explain why but this one bored me. Doncha bother me - I think this style of music just bores me
