Not a blues guy, put pretty decent. Has a lot of memorable songs like I’ve Got My Mojo Working, Tiger in Your Tank, and Baby Please Dont Go. The slower songs were more forgettable for myself, but if you’re a fan of classic blues you would love this album front to back.
London Calling - Not a fan, for some reason couldnt get into this track.
Brand New Cadillac - Very catchy, upbeat and is generally a fun song. Makes me want to cruise down the street with a beer and a cigarette then crash a party and get into a barfight.
Jimmy Jazz - Originally thought I wasnt going to like this song, but the beat + guitar licks are endearing. The brass towards the end is a nice touch, and is a foot tapper. As I’m getting further into this album, can’t get over this fucking accent though. It sucks.
Hateful - Catchy and generally an inoffensive song. Almost seems like a song that would have been released early 2000s or late 90s. Ahead of its time definitely.
Rudie Cant fail- fucking hilarious how this sounds like Ska. Is this the originator for ska? Not bad, it won me over halfway through even though I ended up not liking it at first
Spanish Bombs - Pretty decent, dont have anything bad or good to say about it though
The Right Profile - Forgetable, probably my least fav on the album.
Lost in the Supermarket - Love this song, catchy and the lyrics are poignant and amazing. Very relatable and I found myself replaying this song a couple of times. Favorite song so far along with brand new cadillac.
Clampdown - Kinda generic lyrics, but at least the instrumentals are good
The Guns of Brixton - Great instrumentals, love the use of unique sounds in this track. Decent lyrics but i was blown away by the sound of this track.
Wrong em boyo - was not a fan of this track
death or glory - pretty good anthem type song, was enjoying it.
koka kola - funny ass lyrics but forgettable
the card cheat - really enjoyed this one, is definitely a fun one.
lovers rock - this song sucks LMAO. nah for real tho its alright, just kind of corny. like they were throwing darts at a board and it went to “love song”. At the end theres a funny as fuck moan though
Songs I like: Witchy Woman, Chug All Night, Nightingale and Take the devil
Kind of a convoluted album, has a lot of different sounds contained within it so far. From take it easy which is a feel good song, you get witchy woman which is a psychedelic experience. you are mesmerized by this woman, along with the guitar riffs, going through this trip that keeps crescendoing until you are left with a feeling of if she was real or not.
Then you’re thrust into “chug all night”. This is a great track, chugging all night with a woman thats as wild as you. Youve got your buddies, your beers, probably some shitty 70s weed, and you’re having a party in the middle of the desert with your RV. This track paints a picture of the live these guys live, which i enjoy.
Most of us is decent to me, but it is a nice change of pace. The lyrics are great but the guitar I found to be kind of forgettable and felt like they could have done better.
Nightingale is a great track with amazing instrumentals. The lyrics make me feel some type of way especially to my woman. Overall was one of my favorites.
Train leaves this morning is forgettable to me. Lyrics didnt stay with me, neither did the overall composition of the track. Mid.
Take the Devil on the other hand is amazing. Seems like a gospel song but still they killed it with the guitar. And the drums on this are phenomenal. Almost made me feel like I was in a spiritual battle with the devil himself.
Earlybird I hated at first, the beginning sucks but the rest of the song is pretty decent, not offensive but not great.
Peaceful Easy Feeling is a song about heartbreak and wondering if you could ever find that one again. But then you take that risk, and finally find a person that you can share your love with, even when theres that feeling that it wont work out, you decide fuck it and try.
Trying is a great closer, basically gets you pumped and tells you to get off your ass. Love the riffs solos and the verses. A pretty basic song all in all, but i like the message and its catchy.
Overall this is a big ass hippie album, but its not necessarily a bad thing. I love the psychedelia influences and the songs the shine are the ones that really paint a picture. Its consistent, its fun, but man the slow parts are SLOWWWW.
I got halfway through this album before I realized it wasnt one just long song.
