Back In Black
AC/DC
Heading into this album, my expectations were very low. I had always found this group annoying whenever I heard most of their songs on the radio, and my old high school would BLAST their song “Thunderstruck” before every pep assembly, which was TRAUMATIZING!
Unfortunately, this album did not manage to surpass my already low expectations. The lead singer sounded like Robert Plant taking a dump with his ear piercing wailing and “YEAAA YEAHHH!!”’s on most of the songs. I enjoyed Hell’s Bells and You Shook Me All Night Long, but I otherwise found the rest to be very forgettable ford truck commercial music and/or downright appalling wailing and shouting about cliche nonsense.

Metallica
Metallica
My first ever album recommendation from this website was AC/DC’s “black album”, which I found to be a very ear-piercing and gut wrenching experience! Fortunately, my second album recommendation was a far superior “black album” in Metallica’s self titled.
I listened to this album for the first time a few months ago while on a walk, and I found it to be respectable but not mind blowing. When I listened to this album this time, however, a few tracks that did not stick with me the first time around clicked better in this listen! While I still prefer their more trash-centered works such as KTA and MOP, this album is absolutely no slouch by any means, and I can see why it is arguably their most popular release to date. I would give this about a 7/10, which translates to a 3.5/5 on my rating scale.

In The Court Of The Crimson King
King Crimson
For my third album recommendation, I was given the red screaaammmyyy man album, which I was already a gigantic fan of to begin with. However, there was only one song that has prevented me from giving this album a 10/10 in the past, and that is the track “Moonchild”. Depending on how I feel about it in this listen, I may or may not give this album a 5/5 instead of a 4/5 (it’s soo close to being a no doubt 10/10 for me!!).
After giving this another listen, I can say without a doubt that this is a 10/10 album!! While Moonchild is still my least favorite track, I think it actually fits well in the context of the album. It does a fantastic job of putting the listener into a lull-like state before the closing track of the album comes slamming in!
What else is there to say? This album has easily one of the greatest opening tracks (21st Century Schizoid Man) and closing tracks (The Court Of the Crimson King) in music history, and the tracks in-between do just as great of a job of engaging myself and many other listeners as well. 10/10

Ellington at Newport
Duke Ellington
This was one of the best jazz performances I’ve ever heard! However, I did find the track “Blues to Be There” to be somewhat forgettable, which prevents me from giving this album a 5/5. Otherwise, the rest of the tracks were perfect IMO. 9/10

I found the first two tracks (two of the hit songs) to be good, but not as GREAT as many think them to be. I found the singing to be quite obnoxious at times on these songs, but they still sounded interesting enough for me to enjoy them.
Unfortunately, the album IMPLODES in epic fashion from here. For the remainder of the album, we are forced to listen to Bono WANK himself and moan over bland instrumentals. I found just about every track after the third song to be anywhere from completely mediocre, to REPULSIVE and SOOOO PRETENTIOUS. I definitely get the sense that this Bono boy has a seriously INFLATED ego with the way he always moans and flaunts his voice for everyone to hear. GIVE ME A BREAK.
Overall, this is a project I CERTAINLY will never be returning to outside of the first two tracks. I have heard from some online that their earlier works are not as PRETENTIOUS as this album was, so I will make sure to give their earlier creations a chance still. 2/10

I found this album to be very simple, yet very potent as well! Just about every track is a short 2-3 minutes, but each one brings a much different and interesting sound to the table, with anything from folk-type songs and ballads to garage rock bangers appearing in the track list.
When it’s all said and done, I had an absolute blast listening to this album, and I will make sure to explore more of the Stripes’ discography! 8/10

What a beautiful listening experience!! I am usually very hesitant to give out 10/10’s to anything, but I believe this album has earned a 10/10 from me! I found every single track to be incredible, and the lead singer’s voice is one of the best I’ve ever heard in country. This album combines that with an equally interesting set of instrumentals on each track as well, leading to one of the best country albums that I’ve ever heard in my life.

Let's Get It On
Marvin Gaye
This album felt slightly above average to me. Each track on the project does just enough for me to add them to my playlist for future listening. However, only a select few felt like truly great tracks, as most of these songs just play it very safe IMO. Marvin Gaye’s phenomenal voice also makes this project more enjoyable. 7/10
