Popular Reviews

Doggystyle by Snoop Dogg

What can I say about this album that has not already been said? It's a classic piece of hip-hop and it is in the annals of hip-hop history for a reason. Not the most perfect album, and there are certainly too many skits and interludes (certainly a mark of the time), but every song is absolutely fire. "Murder Was the Case" is probably Snoop's best track ever lyrically, and most of the other tracks on this album are not far behind.

Hail To the Thief by Radiohead
Sep 25 2023

This is the first Radiohead album I have ever listened to all the way through. I wouldn't consider myself a Radiohead Fan, and this album didn't change that. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate them-they are just not really my cup of tea. As far as this album goes, I preferred the more "rock" leaning tracks and less so the more "electronic" leaning ones. There were a few tracks that I liked, but the overall feel, for me anyways, was a kind of mopey, trudging, and repetitive. I am glad I listened to this album, but it will probably be the last time I ever hear it.

Blood Sugar Sex Magik by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Sep 27 2023

I am a moderate fan of RHCP. I really don't care for anything after this album, and I am OK with everything before, but not a hardcore fan. This album, however, for me is their highwater mark. Rick Rubin shines and the entire album is listenable, every track. It doesn't hurt that I have alot of very good teenage memories associated with it, especially w/ the track "Apache Rose Peacock" (the best song on the album). Strong album that I will never skip when it comes up on random.

Led Zeppelin IV by Led Zeppelin
Sep 28 2023

Probably one of the greatest pure Rock and Roll albums of all time. Not a weak track on it (maybe "Stairway to Heaven" just because that song got so worn out). Has my favorite Led Zeppelin song of all time on this album, "Going to California". I would like this album much, much more if it wasn't for the fact that I listened to it about 10,000 times from 1990-1996.

Modern Kosmology by Jane Weaver
Sep 29 2023

After reading other people's reviews, I was VERY surprised that I liked this album-not really my style of music. Trancy, electronic, melodic, dreamy...none of the things that I usually like in my music, but this works. It was a welcome change of pace for me, and I fuck with it.

Lust For Life by Iggy Pop
Oct 02 2023

Kind of a letdown. Lust for Life is a great opening track. Love it. But then the album devolves into a mishmash of punk, R&B, and some straight-up unlistenable tracks. I don't know. Not very punk, and very different than the opening track. All in all, a dud. Without the opening track, it's 2 stars, w/ it's 3.

Clube Da Esquina by Milton Nascimento
Oct 06 2023

Never heard of this album or artist, so this was new for me. In a nutshell, I loved it. It's really, really, really well done Brazilian lounge music, and it works.

Pearl by Janis Joplin

Very solid album. The vast majority of the tracks are in between very good and absolute fire. A few duds, but overall, a very listenable album.
