Day 1 of 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die: The Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd I'm embarrassed to say I've never heard this album before. But this is exactly why I'm doing this, to find classic and incredible albums that have somehow passed me by. The fact each track bleeds and continues into the next is so satisfying to the ear. To be honest, some of it is a bit too psychedelic for me. However, it isn't boring that's for sure. Favourite Songs - Breathe, Money, Us And Them.

Chirping Crickets by Buddy Holly & The Crickets

Day 2 of 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die: The “Chirping” Crickets - Buddy Holly & The Crickets Very classic, so 50s/60s, I love it. Some parts feel a bit repetitive but have no complaints. I think I’d have to be in the right mood to listen as in right time and place but then it will hit so hard!! I like the simplicity of the songs and the album gives me a nostalgic feeling. Favourite Songs - Oh Boy!, You’ve Got Love, Rock Me My Baby

Hot Fuss by The Killers

Day 3 of Albums You Need to Hear Before You Die: Hot Fuss - The Killers Iconic album, I love it so much!! Especially the first half of the album, which is full of classic hits. Crazy that this was their first release and it’s great song after great song. This album got me into rock, just great. Favourite songs - Mr. Brightside, Smile Like You Mean It, All These Things I’ve Done, Glamorous Indie Rock & Roll

Talking Book by Stevie Wonder

Day 4 of 1001 Albums You Need to Hear Before You Die: Talking Book - Stevie Wonder Honestly I wasn't feeling it. Some great songs but just wasn't my overall vibe. Feels very relaxing but just a little repetitive and sweet. It's a bit commercial for me, rather than feeling like it comes straight from his soul. Favourite Songs - Tuesday Heartbreak, Superstition

Are You Experienced by Jimi Hendrix
Sep 22 2023

Day 5 of 1001 Albums You Need to Hear Before You Die: Are You Experienced - Jimi Hendrix I can't say I've ever really listened properly to Jimi so this was a new experience for me. Very psychedelic feel which for me can go one of two ways. A passionate, powerful and energised album with insane guitar work. However, this is no real flow to the album, the songs have just been shoved together. I wish the vocals were a bit louder and the songs a little less repetitive. Favourite Songs - Hey Joe, May This Be Love, Fire, Foxey Lady
