Raw Power
The StoogesI think it's easy to take Iggy and The Stooges at face value, but that would be a mistake. This is a band that deserves the praise and near reverence it receives. Iggy Pop really understands what it means to use his voice in service of a song and his vocal versitility isn't so much in his range as it is in his impeccable ability to change his sound to fit the story of the song. Ron Asheton, Scott Asheton and James Williamson are in equal turns dynamic and grounded on an album that, while not a perfect album, still feels vital at 50.
